I don’t know about you guys, but I’m tired of “pop of color” looks. I’m tired of color only being allowed to peep through at the lash line or maybe at the center of the lid. I like my makeup big, and I like it bright. What’s the point of having greens, yellows, blues and so on if I only use them timidly?

Today I decided to use L’oreal’s Color Riche Eyeshadow Quad in Blue Haute Couture, but I didn’t want to use neutrals and banish the blue to my bottom lash line. Living in the Southern US, summer time means that my makeup is never going to look flawless. It’s important, at least to me, to look like I put a lot of effort into my makeup, even when I usually end up putting on the bare minimum. By the end of the day, if I’ve been out and about in the Alabama humidity, my foundation is going to be a sweaty mess, and my eye makeup will probably end up everywhere other than on my eyes. However, a good, eye catching lipstick draws all the attention away from whatever makeup malfunctions I might be experiencing, so a bright lipstick is an absolute staple of my summer makeup.

Let’s look at a few of my favorites.
